Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine Sullivan was born and lived from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam her mother was a former backup singer for Philadelphia International Records. Her father offered her the position of curator of the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She and her family then moved into the historical landmark. As a 2005 Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts graduated and a major in vocal music. Sullivan was a contralto for the youth choir, and was later a part of the adult chorus. He was exposed to secular music but was initially limited "I had solos singing in the church, and I was asked to go on the gospel label at age was 11 years old, but I wasn't prepared to sign that contract," she recalls. "Then when McDonald's offered a competition to youngsters in the major cities, I got a chance to perform 'Accept what God Wills' on Showtime on the Apollo and the audience were very supportive". In the year 13 she sang along to Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday. Sullivan was initially signed to Jive Records at the age 15. The label recorded her an entire album, but the album was never released. Sullivan was later dropped from the label. Missy Elliott was the producer for a few songs on their debut album. One of them was "Backstabbers" from Timbaland that Elliott wrote, was Sullivan's favorite track.
